Heyyyyyy. Where to start, where to start… Right, the white t-shirt that describes me lol. Well before I get to that, let me introduce myself. I’m Nailah. I’m writing this on the J train heading back to Harlem to get ready for the day. Yup, I live in NYC and have for the last two years – an accomplishment that I still have to grasp a lot of the time. I’m a graphic designer/creative marketer originally from Detroit. I love all things beauty, hair, and fashion related (That is, fashion as an individualistic outlet for expressing who one is, not necessarily fashion, the industry.)

For some reason, I feel kind of nervous relaunching my blog. I’ve contemplated whether or not I should get back into it for months and finally decided to stop thinking and just do the shit — void of pressure I mostly place on myself. But this time, I’m going to do it just being me and not thinking too much about it. Just Nailah. Feel me?

Continuing to ‘just go for it’ just so happens to be one of my goals for this year. So, here I am. Mainly because at the end of the day, I think it’s important to look beyond ultimately insignificant barriers like the blogging world being over saturated. Yes, this field has become supersaturated, but the more melanated end of that field still isn’t getting many seats at the table. And so long as blogging is a platform for expressing thoughts, creativity, style, and the like — I think it’s important for me to be a face for girls and women of color to be able to stumble across, relate to, and be inspired by. Something I didn’t have much of growing up.

With that, let’s get into the deets of my first lewk of 2018! Featuring this “Weirdo” white t-shirt from DSE Detroit that sums me up all too well. I’ve had it for quite some time and it has been in pretty heavy rotation since I got it.

This is one of my favorite ways to style it for these colder days.

Comment below and let me know what you guys think of the look, and also let me know what you’d like to to see in this space from me.
